Creating cross-cultural awareness in organizations and teams

Difference is a strength

With our course in Diversity Excellence, you will learn how to manage cultural differences in the workplace, embracing them as strengths
– not as the source of misunderstanding and conflict.

The course consists of three elements:

1: Background Knowledge

Culture constitutes invisible rules, expectations, and values that guide us through life and regulate our expectations for work, communication, leadership, and social codes of conduct. To navigate appropriately, the sensitive field of culture requires sufficient background knowledge and awareness from leadership. During the training, we will use participants’ own experiences to sharpen awareness and to demonstrate how to use this awareness efficiently.

2: Exercises in cultural self-awareness

Anthropology is famously about: “becoming familiar with the unfamiliar and unfamiliar with the familiar”…

In other words, in becoming aware of the differences in intercultural meetings, one must always have a starting point from self-awareness.

Since the participants, Danish or international, are all part of a Danish work context, the exercises of the course take the Danish culture as point of departure. The participants learn how to recognize, utilize, and navigate among cultural differences.

3: Culturally-intelligent leadership

We discover how leaders can facilitate and support a culture that emphasizes the advantages of international cooperation and takes on the  challenges of different cultural perspectives. Continuing from this mindset, we also explore how leaders create a well-functioning framework around international cooperation by increasing cultural intelligence among employees.

Why is it important?

    International workplaces demand intercultural skills
Not all foreign employees become “little Danes” over time

Today, more than half of the employees of Danish companies are living abroad, and Danish behavior raises eyebrows among our colleagues and co-workers, abroad. This calls for an up-skilling in the handling of cultural differences which will only be more present in the organizations of the future.

How do I benefit from it?

Essential knowledge of cultural differences and leadership responding to your reality
Participants will be well-equipped for intercultural meetings through relevant case exercises

The purpose of the course and its exercises is to remove the blind spots in relation to participants’ own cultural anchor and to create an empathetic understanding of foreign co-workers’ perceptions of business areas and cooperation.

The course is facilitated in Danish or English according to participants’ needs.

    Kurset består af tre elementer:

    1: Baggrundsviden

    2: Øvelser i kulturel selvforståelse
